Work: Architect/Mason  

Walter of Hereford was an English royal architect and mason who enjoyed royal patronage and he was the principal master architect employed by the Edward I and Edward II between 1285 and 1309 when he died; he carried out work at across the country. 

In Hull Minster his work is described by Neave thus: 'The choir piers come very close to the standard Perpendicular four shafts and four hollows type but instead of hollows there are sunk chamfers using exactly the same section was used as at Greyfriars Church, Newgate, London by the royal master mason, Walter of Hereford'.
