Headstone - Mary, John & John Allinson Clark & infants

Description

Long, intact headstone with legible inscription and only minor chipping at shaped upper edge. it commemorates Mary Clark (1797-1834); her husband John (c 1788-1840), a long-serving attorney's clerk, who lived on the High Street; their son John Allinson Clark (1830-39) and four other unnamed children who died in infancy. These may be: Charles Henry (1818-1819), who was buried at St Mary's Lowgate; James John (1821-24); George (1822-24), and James Alli(n)son (1824-25).

It was originally in the South Nave Yard, in the third bay east of the South Porch, close to the middle buttress between the South Porch and the South Transept.
