Wall Tablet - William Stubbs
Description
Rectangular, black slate tablet surmounted by coat of arms with crest. Inscribed white marble sarcophagus with shallow triangular pediment with acroteria on corners, supported by two couchant lions on inscribed tablet. (This tablet has fallen away and is now in N.W. corner of the Church). The tablet is supported by two marble consoles - left one damaged. Lettering in incised Roman Caps.

Currently removed due to dangerous condition. Is sitting on a pallet. Andrew Gomersal assessed this monument in 2014. Great grandchild Peter Stubbs has offered to pay for their restoration of this monument. - 13/12/2019 peterstubbs264@gmail.com
Cleaned, repaired, re-assembled and re-hung on 21 June 2023 by Matthias Garn, Master Mason and team. The monument had been badly damaged while in store but has been conservation repaired with minimum of intervention (report to follow).
